The state's Game and Fish Department says we have more than 6,000 bears in New Mexico right now... and officials say if you want to keep them away from your home - do a good job of keeping your trash secure. Keep your trash in bear-proof dumpsters... and better yet, keep roll-out trash cans locked up... and put your trash out in the morning, not the night before.
