Town of Taos News

The discussions about dispatching in the area continue... the taos town council took up the issue this week. the town council agreed to allow the current joint-powers agreement that governs dispatch operations to expire in a year while a new one is created. They also decided to accept a grant agreement with the state department of finance and administration for enhanced 911 equipment. The council meets again on March 12th, and will revisit the equipment issue then.

Judge Voids Land Grant

A judges has voided a deed filed that lays claim to 20-thousand acres north of taos. There was a hearing on tuesday... the ruling came from 8th judicial district judge sara backus. the arroyo hondo land grant board had filed that warranty deed. The hearing on tuesday was part of a civil case brought by several insurers and property owners in the grant.

Gas Prices Going Down Again

New Mexico gas prices are following a national trend of being up lately... but there might be good news coming...

As of Friday, New Mexico gas prices were up about 23 cents a gallon over the previous two weeks... to an average of 3-43 a gallon... but gasbuddy.com shows they came down over the weekend... to an average of about 3-40 a gallon today. The lundberg survey says nationally, the price was up 20 cents during the same time frame, to an average of 3-80 a gallon. Analyst Trilby LUndberg says we'll keep seeing gas prices fall... she says the main causes of the increases we've had lately - are out of hte picture. She says crude oil prices are dropping, and wholesale prices also are coming down.
